Need Money for College?

The UCF Alumni Association awards more than $40,000 in scholarships every year. An alumni volunteer committee reviews the scholarship applications and determines the recipients. Scholarship winners are announced over the summer, and the monetary awards are distributed at the beginning of the fall semester. Learn more about each scholarship by clicking on the links below. Details include recipient eligibility criteria, required attachments for submission and award values. The scholarship deadline is March 31 of each year.

UCF Alumni Association Scholarships

The following details specific criteria for the scholarship offered by the UCF Alumni Association. You may not see all of the scholarships listed below on myUCF. You will only see the scholarships for which you meet the eligibility criteria.

Charles N. & Frances Millican Scholarship

One $2,000 award to a UCF student with senior class standing in fall 2015. This scholarship was established by the FTU 25-year reunion class of 1973.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

  1. Have a minimum overall 3.5 GPA AND
  2. Have senior class standing (90+ credit hours) in fall 2015 AND
  3. Demonstrate outstanding service to the university through leadership positions in Student Government, honor organizations, campus organizations and offices, etc. AND/OR
  4. Demonstrate outstanding service to the community through leadership roles in impactful volunteer service projects AND/OR
  5. Exemplify leadership skills within exceptional work experiences.

Presidents' Scholarship

One (or more) $1,000 award(s) to a UCF student(s) with senior class standing in fall 2015.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

  1. Have a minimum overall 3.5 GPA AND
  2. Have senior class standing (90+ credit hours, but not a graduate student) in fall 2015 AND
  3. Demonstrate well-rounded involvement at UCF, in the local community and/or exceptional work experience.

REQUIRED SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS:

Alumni Fellows Sophomore Scholarship

  2. Have sophomore class standing (30-59 credit hours) in fall 2015 AND
  3. Demonstrate well-rounded involvement at UCF, in the local community and/or exceptional work experience.

One (or more) $1,000 award(s) to a UCF undergraduate student(s) of any class standing whose parent, grandparent or legal guardian is a UCF graduate. Please provide legacy information (name, date of birth and grad year of parent/grandparent/legal guardian) in your Activities Summary (below).

SELECTION CRITERIA:

  1. Have a minimum overall 3.5 GPA AND
  2. Have a parent, grandparent or legal guardian who is a UCF graduate AND
  3. Demonstrate well-rounded involvement at UCF (or high school if currently a freshman), scholastic merit or outstanding service to the local community.

REQUIRED SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS:

Describe how growing up with a UCF alumni parent/grandparent/legal guardian contributed, impacted or influenced the Knight you are today, and what legacy you hope to leave as a UCF alumnus/a.

Community/State College Scholarship

Up to four $1,000 award(s) to transfer students from any community/state college. Student(s) must transfer directly from the community/state college to UCF with an Associate of Arts degree within the last year.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

  1. Have a minimum overall 3.5 GPA AND
  2. Be a transfer student to UCF, having graduated with an A.A. degree from a community/state college within the last year AND
  3. Show well-rounded involvement on community/state college campus or outstanding service to the local community or exceptional work experience.

One (or more) $500 award(s) to a UCF student(s) of any class standing who is a current dues-paying member(s) of and involved in the 4EVER KNIGHTS Student Alumni Association.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

  1. Have a minimum overall 3.5 GPA AND
  2. Be a dues-paying member of 4EVER KNIGHTS and demonstrate involvement in 4EK AND
  3. Demonstrate involvement on campus or in the community AND
  4. Demonstrate UCF spirit and affinity.

Parent Donor — Student Scholarship

One (or more) $500 award(s) to a UCF student(s) of any class standing whose parent(s) is a current donor(s) to The UCF Fund.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

  1. Have a minimum overall 3.5 GPA AND
  2. Parent(s) of applicant must be a current parent donor(s) to The UCF Fund (given within the last year) AND
  3. Demonstrate involvement on campus or in the community AND
  4. Demonstrate UCF spirit and affinity.

Phoenix Scholarship

One scholarship, typically $1,000, granted to a non-traditional UCF student(s) of junior class standing in fall 2015 who is conquering personal or family challenges.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

  1. Have a minimum overall 3.5 GPA AND
  2. Have junior class standing (60-89 credit hours) in fall 2015 AND
  3. Demonstrate financial need as determined by the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) AND
  4. Be a non-traditional student who is conquering personal or family challenges (e.g., single parent, student serving as head of household with children, student returning to college later in life after overcoming personal adversities, students dealing with unusual circumstances that prevented him/her from pursuing his/her degree at an earlier time in life, etc.).

REQUIRED SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS:

Jack & Monica Thorsen Veteran Scholarship

Up to three $500 award(s) to a UCF student(s) of any class standing who has served in the U.S. military.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

  1. Have a minimum overall 3.25 GPA AND
  2. Be enrolled at the university as a full-time undergraduate or graduate student AND
  3. Be a U.S. military veteran who was discharged under other than dishonorable conditions. (Note: Preference may be given to applicants who served in theaters of combat operations.)

  2. Have freshman class standing (0-29 credit hours) as of fall 2015 AND
  3. Be a permanent resident of Dade or Broward counties.

Note: Award recipient must be in attendance at the Southeast Florida Alumni Chapter's Senior Send-Off event scheduled for May 6, 2015 (date subject to change).

One $1,000 award to a UCF student enrolled as a part-time or full-time graduate student in fall 2015.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

  1. Have a minimum overall 3.0 GPA AND
  2. Demonstrate involvement in leadership, community service and/or extracurricular activities (professional organizations, societies, etc.).

REQUIRED SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS:

Tampa Bay Knights Legacy Scholarship

 

One $250 scholarship award to a UCF student of any class standing (including incoming freshman) from the Tampa Bay area.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

  1. Have a minimum overall 3.0 GPA AND
  2. Be from the Tampa Bay area AND
  3. Be a current student in good standing at the University of Central Florida AND
  4. Have immediate family members (parents or siblings) who are either current students at or alumni of UCF. (Please note the name, date of birth and grad year of parent/sibling in your Activities Summary below.)

Note: All applicants must schedule an interview with members of the Tampa Bay UCF Alumni Chapter Executive Committee. To schedule your interview, please email tampabay@ucfalumni.com with your full name, email and phone number after submitting your application.

Dr. William K. Grasty Memorial Scholarship

 

One $500 award to a UCF student with junior (60-89 credit hours) or senior (90+ credit hours) class standing in the Nicholson School of Communication in fall 2015.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

  1. Have a minimum overall 3.0 GPA AND
  2. Have junior (60-89 credit hours) or senior (90+ credit hours) class standing in fall 2015 AND
  3. Be enrolled in the Nicholson School of Communication at UCF AND
  4. Possess exemplary characteristics in academic achievement, community involvement and/or work experience.

REQUIRED SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS:

Please submit a one-page marketing/communication concept or idea that will increase alumni engagement. This concept should be a complete description of the idea presented on a single, typewritten page.

How to Apply Based on Eligibility*

  1. Read all scholarship criteria and complete all required supporting documents.
  2. Log in to myUCF.
  3. Select "Student Self Service."
  4. Click on "Scholarship Application" > "Home Page" > "Add New Scholarship"
  5. Complete and submit your application(s).

All dates and award amounts are subject to change.

*Scholarships will appear in myUCF based on eligibility requirements specific to each scholarship. Criteria used to determine eligibility includes, but is not limited to: GPA, class standing and academic program. You must have attended UCF for at least one term in order to be eligible to apply or access scholarships on myUCF. If you do not see any scholarships listed in your myUCF portal, you do not meet one or more of the basic eligibility requirements (refer to FAQ for more information).

Please note: All scholarship awards are contigent upon satisfactory academic progress. During the academic year for which a scholarship is awarded, you must be enrolled as a full-time student (12 credit hours for undergraduate students/9 credit hours for graduate students) and maintain a minimum overall 3.0 GPA.

You are encouraged to apply for as many scholarships as you are eligible. However, a separate applicaiton must be submitted for each scholarship.
