Bill Gates Meets Limbitless
By now, many Knights have heard about Limbitless Solutions, the UCF student-startup that develops and provides affordable 3D printed artificial limbs for children. Philanthropist and Microsoft founder, Bill Gates, recently met with the Limbitless team and talked about his experience visiting the on-campus lab. In fact, Gates dedicated a post on his personal blog and produced a video about the superhero team.
Wayne the Whale
The first children’s book published by author and elementary education alumna Morgan (Durham) Leary ’12 is a heartwarming tale (pun intended) of Wayne the Whale. Leary was inspired to write the book after she saw someone throw a plastic cup into the ocean while on a snorkeling trip in the Florida Keys. She hopes her book will educate children on the effects of pollution. The book will be available in Barnes & Noble and Books-A-Million stores and also through Amazon starting Aug. 7.
Alumnus Named UCF Police Chief
Carl Metzger ’03MS, a law enforcement executive with more than 29 years’ experience, including the past four as a deputy chief at UCF, has been selected as the next chief of the UCF Police Department. He’s also an avid runner and biker, a husband and a father. Congrats, Chief Metzger!

Apply now to become a CAH alumni mentor!
Hitt Squad Success
We want to say a BIG thank you to our alumni and friends who showed their support for President John C. Hitt’s historic presidency and made a donation during the Hitt Squad campaign. Together, we raised over $19,000 for student scholarships. Wear those pins proudly, Knights!
