UCF Day of Service

UCF alumni, family and friends are invited to join us on Saturday, March 12 for UCF Day of Service!

We know Knight Nation spans far and wide, so UCF Alumni is proud to offer service opportunities in multiple locations. By spending the day making a difference in our local communities, we'll make a huge, nationwide impact together!

From the Central Florida Zoo to the Mobile Pantry in Denver, check out the list of volunteer opportunities below and register for the location nearest you.

UCF Day of Service Volunteer Locations

Orlando, FL: Second Harvest Food Bank

8:15-11:30 a.m.

Second Harvest Food Bank is looking for 50 volunteers to help sort incoming donations. Second Harvest's mission is to create hope and nourish lives through a powerful hunger relief network, while multiplying the generosity of a caring community. Please wear closed-toe and closed-heel shoes. Volunteers must be 10 years of age or older.

Orlando, FL: Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens

9 a.m.-Noon

Join fellow UCF alumni and friends as we help the Central Florida Zoo with high-priority projects! The Zoo staff will decide on the specific need-based project, but activities may include mulching, painting, landscaping or even habitat restoration. Volunteers must be 18 years or older. Please bring a reusable water bottle, closed-toe shoes and clothing that can get dirty. When your group arrives, park in the main parking lot of the Zoo. Staff will be there to greet you!

Orlando, FL: Harbor Park Cleanup 


Due to predicted inclement weather, this event has been cancelled.

The Seminole County UCF Alumni Chapter is partnering with Walt Disney World to help clean up Harbor Park. You'll be removing litter off the streets and lake to help Keep Orlando Beautiful! Spots are limited. We hope you'll join us for this unique oppportunity to serve our community in partnership with Walt Disney World!

Atlanta, GA: Grace Community Food Pantry

9 a.m.-1 p.m.

Volunteer with the Atlanta UCF Alumni Chapter at the Grace Community Food Pantry to organize and sort food, help stock shelves, monitor quality of incoming food items, and pack groceries. Groceries will be distributed to community members affected by hunger and homelessness.

Atlanta, GA: Helping Mamas

9-11 a.m.

Join the Atlanta UCF Alumni Chapter in volunteering at Helping Mamas Atlanta, the baby supply bank of Georgia. Their mission is to connect helping mamas to mamas needing help, providing baby products to families and children in low-income communities. Since launching in 2014, they've served enough famillies and children to fill the seats in Mercedes Benz Stadium four times! Volunteers will organize, arrange and move inventory and donations around the warehouse, wrap diapers and fill orders to help families in need. 

Boston, MA: Last Hope K9 Rescue & The Gifford Cat Shelter

Meet at JJ Foley's Cafe

5-8 p.m.

Join the Boston UCF Alumni Club in collecting supplies and food for local pet organizations, Last Hope K9 Rescue and The Gifford Cat Shelter. There's been an increase in surrendered animals as people return to the office, and this is a great way to help! Please bring items for cats and dogs, such as a bag of food, toy, dental treat, scratching tower, etc. Due to the recent mandate in the City of Boston, you will need to show a COVID-19 vaccine card to enter the venue. 

Denver, CO: Food Bank of the Rockies Mobile Pantry

​Meet at Historic Brighton City Hall

8-11 a.m.

Meet the Denver UCF Alumni Chapter at Brighton City Hall to help Food Bank of the Rockies! You'll be working at a mobile pantry that will allow you to see the direct impact your service has on individuals and families in Brighton. The mobile pantry is outside and will take place in most weather conditions, so volunteers are encouraged to dress in weather-appropriate layers. Fort Pierce, FL: United Against Poverty

10 a.m.-1 p.m.

Volunteer with the Treasure Coast UCF Alumni Club to help United Against Poverty (UP) St. Lucie! UP serves families and individuals in poverty by providing crisis care, case management, education, food and household subsidies, and much more! Volunteers will help stock shelves and organize donations for UP's pantry. 

Houston, TX: Houston Food Bank

1-4 p.m.

Join the Houston UCF Alumni Club to help the Houston Food Bank! Volunteers produce the equivalent of a meal a minute while helping the Houston Food Bank sort, process and pack food. Volunteers are required to wear a face covering and closed-toe shoes. An adult parent/guardian must accompany all volunteers 16 years and younger. Jacksonville, FL: Jacksonville Humane Society & Feeding Northeast Florida

​Meet at Sippers Coffeehouse

8-11 a.m.

The Jacksonville UCF Alumni Chapter is collecting donations for the Jacksonville Humane Society and Feeding Northeast Florida. Swing by Sippers Coffeehouse to drop off your donations and grab a coffee and bakery item! The most needed items include dry and wet cat/dog food, dry and wet kitten food, Pup-Peroni dog treats, large and medium Kongs (new), paper towels, new or used blankets and towels, dry goods, canned goods, snacks for kids, water and other drinks.

Miami, FL: Beach Cleanup at Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park

9-11 a.m.

Join the Miami UCF Alumni Club to help clean up beautiful Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park, home to the historic Cape Florida Lighthouse. Please bring sunscreen, insect repellent and a reusable water bottle. Buckets, trash bags, plastic gloves and trash grabbers will be provided.  Adult supervision is required for volunteers under 18.

Nashville, TN: Harpeth Conservancy

Meet at LL Burns Park

POSTPONED for a date TBD

This event has been postponed due to predicted inclement weather. A new date will be shared soon.

Head to LL Burns Park to help the Nashville UCF Alumni Club remove invasive plants that are crowding out native species along the Harpeth riverbank. Removing invasive plants gives native species a better chance of survival and improves the habitat for wildlife. All ages are welcome, but anyone under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Please bring work gloves and a water bottle. Hand tools and light refreshments will be provided. Masks, hand sanitizer and work gloves will also be available. New York, NY: City Harvest

Meet at Pennsylvania 6 NYC

Noon-5 p.m.

Join the New York UCF Alumni Chapter to help pack meals for City Harvest. City Harvest exists to end hunger in communities throughout New York City through food rescue and distribution, education, and other practical, innovative solutions. Meals will be packed at the alumni chapter's Watch Party restaurant, Penn6. Hair nets, gloves, masks and all other supplies will be provided. After you're done, enjoy some light appetizers on the New York UCF Alumni Chapter!

Phoenix, AZ: St. Mary's Food Bank

​Meet at O.H.S.O Eater & Nano-Brewery

2-5 p.m.

Meet the Phoenix UCF Alumni Club at OHSO Brewery to donate supplies for St. Mary's Food Bank, then stay to network with fellow Phoenix Knights! St. Mary's mission is to end hunger through the gathering and distribution of food. Their most needed items include canned vegetables and fruits, canned meats, canned soups, rice, beans, cereal, peanut butter and citrus fruits. If you'd like to volunteer with the food bank directly, you can pack emergency food boxes with a small group of alumni on Friday, March 11. You can find more information on the Facebook event page

Palm Beach, FL: Beach Cleanup at Loggerhead Marinelife Center

8:15-10 a.m.

The Palm Beach UCF Alumni Chapter is uniting to clean Juno Beach, facilitated by Loggerhead MarineLife Center. Join in to help keep the beach that our turtles call home clean! Gloves and cleaning supplies are provided by Loggerhead Marinelife Center, but bringing your own gloves or buckets is encouraged. Feel free to bring your friends and family!

San Diego, CA: Beach Cleanup at Mission Beach near Belmont Park

9 a.m.-2 p.m.

In partnership with The Surfrider Foundation, the San Diego UCF Alumni Club will clean up Mission Beach near Belmont Park. Cleanup supplies will be provided. After beautifying the beach until noon, please plan to join the group for lunch at Sandbar near Belmont Park. Your appetizers will be covered as a thank you for coming out and giving back!

Sarasota, FL: Beach Road Cleanup at Beach Access 5

8:30-9:30 a.m.

The Sarasota UCF Alumni Club has partnered with Keep Sarasota County Beautiful, an organization that initiates cleanup projects to keep the community free of debris. They've adopted a portion of Beach Road, and they need your help to clean up this area of the beach and make an impact in the community. This event is limited to 10 volunteers.

Tallahassee, FL: Second Harvest Food Bank of the Big Bend

POSTPONED for Saturday, March 23 | 8:30-11:30 a.m.

Due to predicted inclement weather, this event has been rescheduled for Saturday, March 19.

Join the Tallahassee UCF Alumni Club to volunteer with the Second Harvest Food Bank of the Big Bend in their community garden. Closed-toe shoes are required. Please wear something comfortable that you don't get mind getting dirty. Long pants or leggings are best. The mission of SHFBBB is to advance change by feeding the hungry and educating and engaging the community in the fight to end hunger. This event is limited to 10 volunteers.

Tampa, FL: Riverwalk Cleanup at Julian B. Lane Riverfront Park


Due to predicted inclement weather, this event has been cancelled.

Join the Tampa Bay UCF Alumni Chapter to help clean up the Riverwalk with Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful! Trash bags, gloves and pickers will be provided. Meet at Julian B. Lane Park to check in and get your supplies. This is a family-friendly event, so bring the whole crew!
