Five Things Alumni Need to Know This Week - July 29, 2019

1. Today, July 29, 2019, is officially One-Month-Until-UCF-Football-Returns Day. To commemorate the occasion, you are cordially invited to join us at UCF FAIRWINDS Alumni Center on August 29 for the first Indoor Tailgate of the season! It's the place to be for any and all UCF fans who enjoy air-conditioning, watching college football with fellow Knights and getting hyped with Knightro & co. before the big game. We know you'll wanna be there, so let us know you're coming.

2. It pays to be a graduate of UCF in lots of different ways. Right now, one of those ways is a deal for really excellent theatre viewing.  Orlando Shakes, in partnership with UCF, is offering all UCF alumni $10 off per ticket on your first order! Their 31st Season Signature Series opens with Evita, and includes Macbeth, The Three Musketeers, and much more. This discount applies to the 31st Season Signature Series productions. Just enter the discount code UCFALUM when checking out and enjoy an excellent season of quality performances.

3. Speaking of the arts, The UCF College of Arts and Humanities Alumni Chapter invites all UCF alumni to submit artwork for the upcoming event, Eclectic Knights XI. This will be the 11th annual show celebrating visual arts at UCF’s College of Arts and Humanities. This night of art will feature works by UCF alumni, faculty, staff, and students on any subject in all varieties of media. All media and subject matter are encouraged. The deadline for entry is Sunday, Aug. 18 at 4 p.m., so submit your work soon and let your talent be on display!

4. Last week, UCF Today shared the news that "Gary and Barbara Bryant of Lake Mary, Florida, last month made the largest gift commitment in the history of UCF Athletics. Once funded, their $13 million estate gift commitment will establish the Gary and Barbara Bryant Family Athletic Endowed Scholarship Fund. Annual proceeds from the endowment will provide athletic scholarship support for both men’s and women’s student-athletes at UCF. 'We appreciate Gary and Barbara’s investment in our educational and athletic mission at UCF,' says Danny White, UCF vice president and director of athletics. 'Their family legacy at UCF will forever provide life-changing scholarship opportunities for hundreds of young men and women to pursue their academic, athletic and personal dreams through the student-athlete experience.'" 5. “As a board member, I’m interested in making sure UCF students have access to experiential learning, that they’re going to be lifelong learners, that they’ll be able to work as part of a team, and that they understand the importance of being involved in the community." -the new chair of the UCF Board of Trustees, Bev Seay.
