Five Things Alumni Need to Know This Week - October 14, 2019

1. Joel Setzer ’12 and Jameson Deighan ’12 were among the first students in UCF's architecture program. In their four years at UCF, the duo made a name for themselves and shook up what the program could be. In the years since their graduation, the duo has made a name (and business) for themselves and are shaking up what architecture in Orlando could be. Read their story, From the Ground Up: UCF Architects Pioneer Program and Business.

2. Happy Homecoming Week! It's finally here and we are stoked about it. Join us for our ChargeOn: Rise Above panel this Wednesday morning! This [free!] networking event will include breakfast, an in-depth panel discussion about what it means to innovate and ChargeOn, and a chance to come on back to campus and mingle with fellow Knights. You will not want to miss it, so we will see you Wednesday morning. (But, wait. First, you got to register. Do that here.)

3. Hey, wait up. While you're still thinking about Homecoming Week, get stoked for Black and Gold Takeover! We're taking over Wall Street in downtown Orlando and we need you to there to make sure our Knights come out in full force. This event is hosted by the UCF Young Alumni Council, but all AlumKnights over the age of 21 are encouraged and welcome to attend.

4. "UCF is expanding its collaboration with Disney Aspire, an education investment program by more than doubling the number of degree programs offered and extending the program to Disney employees nationwide. The program covers tuition, application fees, required books and course materials.

This new expansion adds 38 UCF programs in fields such as business, hospitality and engineering, and increases the total online programs from 10 to more than 40, including 13 fully online graduate certificates." Read the full UCF Today article here.

5. OK time to think about Homecoming Week again! We've got our Indoor Tailgate scheduled for gameday on Saturday, so gather your crew and be there. Our Knights need us rallied together to cheer them on for a victory over ECU and nothing gets you hyped quite like a tailgate at the FAIRWINDS Alumni Center!
