Sherri-Ann Grant-Clarke ’10

Tell us a little about yourself!

I’m just grateful to be where I am in life. Thank you to UCF for giving me the start!

When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?

There wasn’t really an epiphany. I just knew that along this journey I was led to write about my lived experiences up to a certain point in my life.

What’s your writing process? What inspires your writing?

My writing process involves me just writing as the information “comes to me.” I make sure I’m in a relaxed, receptive state and then I just write.

What was the biggest thing you learned during your time as a Knight that you apply to your life today?

Undergrad allowed me to slowly start the process of stepping into my own and confidently expressing my voice.

What was a class or club at UCF that helped you grow as a writer?

I don’t believe a specific class or club helped me to grow as a writing. I did take Legal Writing as part of my major but that style of writing is very specific to my role as a lawyer but not to my overall intrinsic creative writing.

Who are some of your favorite authors or books?

Brene Brown, Eckhart Tolle, Wayne Dyer, Brian Weiss are some of my favorite authors and have written some of my favorite books.

If UCF had a time machine, what moment on campus would you go back to?

I would go back to my entire first year and I would have partied so much more!

If your UCF experience were a meme, what would it be?

I was very serious and studious in undergrad, so my meme would be of me walking in and immediately walking out – hahahah.

What are you currently working on right now?

No literary works at the moment but I’ve transitioned to life coaching, so I’m working on getting that business off the ground then I may write another book about toxicity in the legal profession.
