Jennifer Gonzalez and Colin Bailey

We met as lab partners in an undergrad biology course. He thought his roommate would be his partner but it was actually me, which was what we were both secretly hoping for. We began dating shortly after and have been together for 11 years on Jan. 30; our second wedding anniversary is on Jan. 15. In 2014, he decided to change careers and return to school to study nursing; then I became diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma about two months after I completed my Master’s degree. He also was one of student nurses who assisted at Orlando Regional Medican Center during the night of the Pulse shooting. We have gone through many challenges together but have luckily pulled through thanks to the support system we gained through UCF. We’re forever grateful that a lab brought us together!
