Rebekah and Rick Kogelschatz

Rick and I started dating at the end of my high school senior year. I went to UCF that fall, 1993, and attended the first year without him. I was living in Volusia Hall and would check my mailbox daily for bits of mail and gifts he would send me. I would also get stamps from the stamp machine that gave out one cent stamps and I would save enough to mail a letter and stick them all on the envelope. Rick moved to campus the summer of ’93 just as I was going home for the summer. We were finally able to attend together beginning the fall of 1993. Since I lived in Volusia and Lake Claire, we’d often eat on campus and we spent a lot of extra time there. Rick graduated in 1995 and started his graduate program. I graduated in 1996 and started teaching. We were married just before my graduation and lived in an apartment on Econlockhatchee Drive. Rick later finished his first master’s degree in 1998. We are both in education administration and have been married 24 years this year and have three children. We love UCF and have many fond memories.
