2018-2019 scholarship applications are now open on a2o!

UCF Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving awards more than $50,000 in scholarships every year. Scholarship winners are announced over the summer, and the monetary awards are distributed at the beginning of the fall semester. Learn more about each scholarship by clicking on the links below. Details include recipient eligibility criteria, required attachments for submission and award values. The scholarship deadline is midnight on March 31, 2018.

Scholarship Criteria | 2018-2019

The following details specific criteria for the scholarship offered by UCF Alumni. You may not see all of the scholarships listed below on A2O. You will only see the scholarships for which you meet the eligibility criteria. You must read all individual scholarship criteria to confirm your eligibility. Make sure to read eligibility criteria carefully.

UCF Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving Scholarships

Charles N. & Frances Millican Scholarship

One $2,000 award to a UCF student with senior class standing in fall. This scholarship was established by the FTU 25-year reunion class of 1973.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

  1. Have a minimum overall 3.5 GPA AND
  2. Have senior class standing (90+ credit hours) in fall 2017 AND
  3. Demonstrate outstanding service to the university through leadership positions in Student Government, honor organizations, campus organizations and offices, etc. AND/OR
  4. Demonstrate outstanding service to the community through leadership roles in impactful volunteer service projects AND/OR
  5. Exemplify leadership skills within exceptional work experiences.

REQUIRED SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS:

  • Recommendation Letter – From a person other than a relative (i.e. Professor, supervisor, etc.)

Jack & Monica Thorsen Veteran Scholarship

Up to three $500 award(s) to a UCF student(s) of any class standing who has served in the U.S. military.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

  1. Have a minimum overall 3.25 GPA AND
  2. Be enrolled at the university as a full-time undergraduate or graduate student in fall 2017 AND
  3. Be a U.S. military veteran who was discharged under other than dishonourable conditions.
    (Note: Preference may be given to applicants who served in theaters of combat operations.)

REQUIRED SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS:

Phoenix Scholarship

One scholarship, up to $1,000, granted to a non-traditional UCF student(s) of junior class standing (60-89 credit hours) in fall who is conquering personal or family challenges.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

  1. Have a minimum overall 3.0 GPA AND
  2. Must be enrolled as an undergraduate student at UCF with junior class standing (60-89 credit hours) in fall AND
  3. Demonstrate financial need as determined by the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) AND
  4. Be a non-traditional student who is conquering personal or family challenges (e.g., single parent, student serving as head of household with children, student returning to college later in life after overcoming personal adversities, students dealing with unusual circumstances that prevented him/her from pursuing his/her degree at an earlier time in life, etc.).

REQUIRED SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS:

  • Recommendation Letter – From a person other than a relative (i.e. Professor, supervisor, etc.)

St. Onge Family Leadership Endowed Scholarship

One $1,000 award to a UCF student with sophomore or junior class standing in fall who demonstrates outstanding service to the university through leadership.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

  1. Have a minimum overall 3.0 GPA AND
  2. Have sophomore or junior class standing (30-89 credit hours) in fall 2017 AND
  3. Demonstrate outstanding service to the University by holding a leadership position in student government, honors organizations, campus organizations, campus offices, etc.

REQUIRED SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS:

  • Recommendation Letter – From a person other than a relative (i.e. Professor, supervisor, etc.)

UCF Alumni Fellows Leadership Scholarship

Up to six (6) awards up to $5000 each to a UCF undergraduate or graduate student of any class standing who are enrolled at UCF for the fall who exemplify school spirit. Alumni Fellows Scholarships will be awarded as follows:

  • One Alumni Fellows Freshman award up to $5000 – Freshman class standing has (0-29 undergraduate credit hours)
  • One Alumni Fellows Sophomore award up to $5000 – Sophomore class standing has (30-59 undergraduate credit hours)
  • One Alumni Fellows Junior award up to $5000 – Junior class standing has (60-89 undergraduate credit hours)
  • One Alumni Fellows Senior award up to $5000 – Senior class standing has (90+ undergraduate credit hours)
  • Two Alumni Fellows Graduate awards up to $5000 each – Graduate Student is any student who already has an undergraduate degree and is enrolled in a masters or doctoral program

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

  1. Must have a minimum overall 3.5 GPA AND
  2. Demonstrate well-rounded leadership and involvement at UCF, outstanding service to the local community or exceptional work experience over the last year AND
  3. Must be an undergraduate or graduate student enrolled at UCF for the fall 2017 semester.

REQUIRED SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS:

  • Recommendation Letter – From a person other than a relative (i.e. Professor, supervisor, etc.)

UCF Alumni Legacy Scholarship

Four (4) awards up to $5,000 each to a UCF undergraduate student(s) of any class standing enrolled at UCF for the fall semester. This special award is given to a student whose parent, grandparent or legal guardian is a UCF graduate. Please provide legacy information (name, date of birth and grad year of parent/grandparent/legal guardian) in your Activities Summary (link below).

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

  1. Must have a minimum overall 3.5 GPA AND
  2. Have a parent, grandparent, or legal guardian who is a UCF graduate AND
  3. Demonstrate well-rounded leadership and involvement at UCF, outstanding service to the local community or exceptional work experience over the last year AND
  4. Must be an undergraduate student enrolled at UCF for the fall 2017 semester.

REQUIRED SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS:

  • Recommendation Letter – From a person other than a relative (i.e. Professor, supervisor, etc.)

UCF Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving Chapter/Club Scholarships

Amy G. Buchman '95, Memorial Endowed Scholarship

One $500 award to a UCF student of any class standing from the Tampa Bay area.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

  1. Have a minimum overall 3.5 GPA AND
  2. Be a permanent resident of Pinellas or Hillsborough counties.

REQUIRED SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS:

  • Recommendation Letter – From a person other than a relative (i.e. Professor, supervisor, etc.)

College of Arts and Humanities Alumni Chapter Scholarship

The UCF College of Arts and Humanities Alumni Chapter Scholarship was created to provide financial support for students in the College of Arts and Humanities. One (or more) award(s) up to $500 will be awarded for the next fall term.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

  1. Have a minimum overall 3.0 GPA AND
  2. Be a current full-time student enrolled in the College of Arts and Humanities AND
  3. Must be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate or graduate student at UCF (undergraduate: 12 credit hours/graduate: 9 credit horus) for the fall 2018 semester AND
  4. Demonstrate involvement in leadership, community service and/or extracurricular campus activites.

REQUIRED SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION

  1. Activities Summary - Download the scholarship activities summary form.
  2. Recommendation Letter - from a person other than a relative (i.e. professor, supervisor, etc.)
  3. Essay of 250 words or less describing how this scholarship will aid in your future successes at UCF.
  4. A completed and supmmitted scholarship application form via myUCF.

DEADLINE: Thursday, March 1, 2018

College of Business Administration Alumni Chapter Scholarship

Up to five $1,000 awards to a UCF student enrolled as full-time junior, senior or graduate student enrolled in the College of Business Administration in fall.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

  1. Have a minimum overall 3.0 GPA AND
  2. Be junior, senior or graduate student enrolled full-time in the College of Business Administration AND
  3. Demonstrate involvement in leadership, community service and/or extracurricular campus activities AND
  4. Be willing to serve a one-year term on the CBA Executive committee after graduation (if remaining local)

*Preference will be given to children of alumni, 4EVER KNIGHTS members and those showing active involvement in College of Business Administration clubs, organizations or activities.

REQUIRED SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS:

  • Recommendation Letter – From a person other than a relative (i.e. Professor, supervisor, etc.)

Debbie K. Phillis Space Coast UCF Alumni Chapter Endowed Scholarship

Up to two $1,000 award(s) to a UCF student(s) enrolled as a fulltime undergraduate or graduate student who is a permanent resident of Brevard County.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

  1. Have a minimum overall 3.0 GPA AND
  2. Be enrolled at UCF as a full-time undergraduate or graduate student in fall AND
  3. Be a permanent resident of Brevard County AND
  4. Demonstrate involvement in community service.

REQUIRED SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS:

  • Two Recommendation Letters – (One should be from an organization with which you have volunteered, or that has some connection to your volunteerism.)

Note: Selected award recipient will be notified at the Starry Knight event scheduled for June 21, 2018.

Dr. William K. Grasty Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship is in memory of Dr. William K. Grasty who left a lasting legacy at UCF. Dr. Grasty served the university from 1968 till his passing in 1996. Through his 28 years of service, Dr. Grasty served as a communications professor, department chair, vice president of community relations, and executive director of the UCF Foundation. In addition to being a charter faculty member, Dr. Grasty is known for inspiring students and for his cheerful and gentle demeanor in the classroom.
One $500 award to a UCF student with junior (60-89 credit hours) or senior (90+ credit hours) class standing in the Nicholson School of Communication in fall.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

  1. Have a minimum overall 3.0 GPA AND
  2. Have junior (60-89 credit hours) or senior (90+ credit hours) class standing in fall 2017 AND
  3. Be enrolled in the Nicholson School of Communication at UCF AND
  4. Possess exemplary characteristics in academic achievement, community involvement and/or work experience.

REQUIRED SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS:

  • Recommendation Letter – From a person other than a relative (i.e. Professor, supervisor, etc.)

Lee A. Dumas Memorial Endowed Scholarship

Up to two $500 award(s) to a UCF student(s) of any class standing who is a permanent resident of Volusia or Flagler counties.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

  1. Have a minimum overall 3.0 GPA AND
  2. Demonstrate involvement in extracurricular activities AND
  3. Be a permanent resident of Volusia or Flagler counties.

REQUIRED SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS:

  • Recommendation Letter – From a person other than a relative (i.e. Professor, supervisor, etc.)

Branen Band Endowed Scholarship – Awarded in spring 2019.

One (or more) award(s) up to $500 to a fulltime UCF student(s) who is currently a 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th or 6th year Marching Knights member and who is currently enrolled in MUN3113 in fall.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

  1. Be a member of Marching Knights with two years of participation and be at least as sophomore (2nd year) who has participated in the program during their freshman year and fall semester of their sophomore year AND
  2. Be enrolled as a fulltime undergraduate or graduate student at UCF AND
  3. Be enrolled in classes at UCF for the spring semester AND
  4. Be currently enrolled in MUN3113 for fall.

REQUIRED SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS:

  • Activities Summary  –  Please complete the activities summary prior to submitting online application. Save as (yourname_activities.doc or .pdf) and upload when prompted.

UCF Regional Chapter/Club Scholarships  Expand to see specific regional scholarships

Various awards offered by UCF Alumni Regional Chapters/Clubs to students who are enrolled at UCF as a full-time undergraduate or graduated student(s) (any class standing) for the fall 2017 semester. Preference will be given to those applicants who are permanent residents of specific areas listed. Please provide hometown/regional information in your Activities Summary (link below).

  • Chicago UCF Alumni Chapter Scholarship – One $250 award. Preference given to a UCF student from the state of Illinois.
  • Jacksonville UCF Alumni Club Scholarship – One $250 award. Preference given to a UCF student who is a permanent resident of Duval, Clay, St. Johns or Nassau counties in Florida.
  • Ocala UCF Alumni Club Scholarship – One $500 award. Preference given to a UCF student who is a permanent resident Marion County Florida.
  • Tampa Bay Knights Legacy Scholarship – One $250 award. Preference given to a UCF student who is a permanent resident of the Tampa Bay Area and is a UCF legacy whose parent/grandparent/legal guardian is a graduate of UCF.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

  1. Must have a minimum overall 2.75 GPA AND
  2. Demonstrate well-rounded leadership and involvement at UCF, outstanding service to the local community or exceptional work experience over the last year AND
  3. Must be an undergraduate or graduate student enrolled at UCF for the fall semester.

REQUIRED SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS:

  • Recommendation Letter – From a person other than a relative (i.e. Professor, supervisor, etc.)

  1. Read all scholarship criteria and complete all required supporting documents.
  2. Log in to A2O: Access to Opportunities.
  3. Complete the general application if this is your first time logging in.
  4. Browse available scholarships > click "Opportunities" and select "Ours" then search for the specific scholarship you are looking for.
  5. Complete and submit your application(s).

THE FINE PRINT:
All dates and award amounts are subject to change.

*No paper applications will be accepted. Scholarships applications are only available online through the A2O: Access to Opportunities portal. You will only see scholarships for which you meet the basic eligibility requirements. IMPORTANT! Please read each scholarship application carefully to make sure you meet ALL of the specific criteria required for each scholarship before applying. Criteria used to determine eligibility includes, but is not limited to: GPA, class standing, academic program adn campus involvement. If you do not see a particular scholarship, you do not meet one or more of the basic eligibility requirements (refer to FAQ for more information).

Please note: All scholarship awards are contingent upon satisfactory academic progress. During the academic year for which a scholarship is awarded, you must be enrolled as a full-time student (12 credit hours for undergraduate students/9 credit hours for graduate students) and maintain a minimum overall 3.0 GPA unless otherwise noted.

You are encouraged to apply for as many scholarships as you are eligible. However, a separate application must be submitted for each scholarship.
