The UCF Foundation Board has appointed five new elected leaders and two new committee advisors with terms that commenced on July 1, 2024.

 

In recognizing these business and community leaders, Foundation Board Chair Brian Butler H’22 said, “We are so grateful to all of these individuals for sharing their passion for the work that UCF does every day, and who are committed to supporting the university, encouraging charitable contributions, and transforming lives through philanthropy.”

Matt Assenmacher

Matt Assenmacher ’93

Since 2006, Matt Assenmacher has been Managing Partner of FFC Enterprises, LLC which does business as Top Tile & Stoneworks. In 2011, he founded ViaMaris Imports. Both companies specialize in serving the hotel industry in the luxury, upper upscale and upscale hotel segments. ViaMaris focuses on strategic global sourcing of tile and stone, while Top Tile & Stoneworks delivers high quality installations in hotels throughout the U.S. and Caribbean. Key clients include Hyatt Corp, Ritz Carlton, St. Regis, 1 Hotels, Marriott, Westin, Sheraton and Walt Disney World, among others.

Previously, Assenmacher held senior marketing and product management positions at CHEP, ProLaser North America and LaserSight Technologies. He is also a principal in Parkbreeze Holdings LLC, and served on the UCF Alumni Board from 2011-2024.

In addition to his degree from UCF, Assenmacher earned a master’s degree in management at Troy University in 1997.

Teresa Borcheck

Teresa Borcheck

Board Service and Memberships:

Florida College System Foundation Board of Directors, President, 2021-2023

Florida Board of Accountancy, 2006 – 2014

Teresa Borcheck served in the finance industry, including time with SunTrust and BNY Mellon Wealth Management, for more than 30 years .She serves as the president of the Hans and Cay Jacobsen Foundation and has been on the board of directors since its inception. She retired in 2011 as the senior vice president of SunTrust Bank’s Foundation and Endowment Services, a division she started in 2001.

A non-profit expert, Teresa has consulted for various private foundations for over 30 years and has held positions at Special Olympics Florida and the Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy.

Teresa served as a Gubernatorial Appointee to the Florida Board of Accountancy as one of two Consumer Members, serving from 2005 to August 2014.

Teresa is married to Michael S. Borcheck ’80. Together they established the Borcheck Family Accounting Scholarship.

Cary D’Ortona

Cary D’Ortona ’00 ’01MSA

Cary D’Ortona is president of Orlando Health Medical Group, and senior vice president of Orlando Health. He is responsible for leading the strategicand operational direction of more than 1,700 employed clinicians to support the needs of the organization. Cary joined Orlando Health in 2004.

During his tenure at Orlando Health, he has guided expansion of pediatric specialty services and primary care. Prior to his appointment as president of the Orlando Health Medical Group, he served as president, chief operating officer and chief financial officer with Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital and held positions in finance and internal audit.

Before joining Orlando Health, Cary worked as an auditor with Ernst & Young, LLP.He earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting and master’s degree in accountancy, both from the University of Central Florida in Orlando. He also holds a Master of Science in Health Services Administration.

Cary is a member of the board of directors of Camp Boggy Creek, Junior Achievement and Special Olympics Florida. In addition, he is a board of directors’ member for Orlando Health South Lake Hospital and a member of the executive committee of the Florida Hospital Association of Children’s Hospitals. He also serves on the supervisory committee of the Addition Financial Credit Union.

Manish Hirapara

Manish Hirapara ’98

Manish Hirapara is the founder and CEO of PeakActivity LLC, a digital strategy company focused ondreaming, delivering, and elevating business growth. In this role, he crafts and implements digital strategies for PeakActivity’s enterprise customer base. With over 20 years of experience creating innovative and disruptive digital solutions across many different industries, Hirapara has helped advise dozens of senior corporate leaders in the retail, transportation and logistics, financial services, distribution and manufacturing industries, on digital strategies that have delivered substantial revenue growth and cost savings in excess of $1 billion.

PeakCares was started in 2018 as the community involvement and philanthropic arm of PeakActivity. Every quarter, Peaksters are given the opportunity to get involved with a community charity and assist in fundraising and in-kind efforts. Prior to PeakActivity, Hirapara served as a senior global eCommerce leader at Office Depot where he oversaw eCommerce strategy and implementation for both the B2B (business to business) and B2C (business to consumer) marketing channels across over 40 countries and 70+ websites.

Hirapara founded Enaptive in 2007 as a software company focused on enabling and transforming business using technology products and solutions. As managing director, Hirapara led a team of over 60 distributed employees across all enterprise functions, including IT, sales, human resources, finance, operations, and marketing.

Hirapara is married to wife Viengmone Phongsangouane Hirapara’99, who earned a BSBA in Finance from UCF. He is a charter member on the board of the Alan B. Levan NSU Broward Center for Innovation, Board Member of The Broward College Entrepreneurial Experience (BCEx) and is an avid reader and life-long learner with recommendations for books and podcasts on his website at https://manishhirapara.com/about/.

Karen Manglardi

Karen Manglardi

Karen Manglardi graduated from FSU in 1988 and worked as a registered dietician for several years. Her interests include cycling, and she is an active board member of the Florida Freewheelers, where she also served as past President. Additionally, she has served on the boards of Trinity Preparatory School and The WAVE New Smyrna Beach Condominium Association, Inc.

Karen has served UCF in several capacities. She served as a board member and eventual co-chair of the UCF Parent and Family Philanthropy Council. She also served as Vice President of the UCF Women’s Club and as a social media ambassador for UCF Advancement. Karen also served as a Committee Advisor with the UCF Foundation’s Donor Engagement and Stewardship Committee from 2022-2024.

Karen is married to the Honorable Michael Manglardi, Esq. ’84. They have three children who are UCF graduates: Joseph Manglardi ’15 ’17MBA (BSBA in Management, MBA in Business Administration) Michael Manglardi ’16 (BSBA in Management, College of Business), and Jonathan Manglardi ’20 (BSIE in Industrial Engineering, College of Engineering & Computer Science).

 

New Committee Advisors:

Ryan Kelley

Ryan Kelley ’03 ’11MBA

Ryan will serve on the Investment Committee.

Ryan has been part of Atlas Finance Partners since 2017, where the focus is on specialized services in retirement planning and asset management. Prior to joining Atlas Financial, Ryan served as Vice President of Asset Management Services with The Newport Group for over ten years (he started with the Newport Group as an Investment Analyst).

Ryan and his wife, Katherine Kelley ’02, are current members of the Big 12 level within the Shareholders Society and are Constellation Society members.

Ryan is an avid golfer and member at Golden Beach Club.

Stuart Brown

Stuart Brown ’97

Stuart will serve on the Philanthropy and Donor Engagement Committee.

Stuart Brown is a managing director and current technology officer for Accenture’s Journey to Cloud Business.  In addition to serving as office managing director for the Tampa office, Brown is the southeast US lead for Accenture Operations, which drives transformation and delivers business outcomes through infrastructure, cloud and business process services.

In his role, Brown sets the technology and investment strategies.  Having served with Accenture for nearly 24 years, Brown has deep industry experience focusing on utilities and resources industries (utilities, oil & gas, chemicals, and mining). He has led and delivered some of the largest transformation projects, including large-scale customer service technology platforms, deregulated organizations, and cloud transformations. Brown’s global energy experience has made him an in-demand speaker to many Fortune 500 C-suite clients on topics related to how technology trends can be used in developing an overall corporate strategic vision.

He and his wife, Shannon Strickland Brown, have two children.  Son Ian is currently playing baseball at Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut.

Interests: Brown is an avid reader and lover of ancient history — and at the same time a gadget hound (he pre-ordered the Tesla truck).
